APE Equipment is the product of a solo mountain hunter’s obsessive personality.
Hunters across British Columbia were drawn into his R&D process when Alec began soliciting feedback while testing designs for his first pair of gaiters.
Hunters, guide outfitters, loggers and recreational alpinists quickly responded, and the ensuing dialogue soon made it apparent Alec and his public were, in fact, functioning collaboratively.
This proved to be an inspired strategy.
Working closely with his target clients, Alec and company turned out their first run of gaiters.
Then, a second.
Both iterations became known for uncommon durability and, hands down, just fit better than others in the market.
He had succeeded.
Mastering just one element at a time is the APE way, with the market demanding more innovations.
APE will continue to design and develop new offerings for the alpine users’ space, one piece at a time.
